FAQ: How do I become a member of ASGCA? Print E-mail

Golf course architects must be experienced to apply for membership in ASGCA. The main qualifications are as follows:

  • A citizen of Canada, Mexico or the United States
  • At least 28 years old, with a minimum of eight years experience in golf course architecture
  • The completion of at least five 18-hole equivalents. Three must have been completed in the past six years, two 9-hole layouts may be substituted for one 18 and up to two completely remodeled projects may serve as two of the representative courses.

In addition to these criteria, applicants must adhere to the ASGCA Code of Ethics and be prepared for the peer-review of their representative courses. The application process is lengthy, complex and typically takes two years to complete.

Only golf course architects may be ASGCA members; ASGCA has no “supplier” or “student” category of membership. If you’d like to receive an application, contact Aileen Smith at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
