Designer Notes:
The seventeenth hole of Hidden River Golf and Casting Club, a Par 5, incorporates all of the elements of design to provide an excellent, short par 5. The hole was designed to offer the player a chance to reach the green in two by selecting the proper route to the hole. An elevated tee offers a panoramic view of the entire hole and the northern Michigan forests beyond. A wide, first landing area is situated between aspen trees and an expanse of sand dotted with native ferns, which parallels the entire fairway. The second landing area is flanked on the right by a pond, leading into the green, guarded on the right by three deep bunkers. Number 17 is a great make-up hole for the golfer who is not distracted by its beautiful surroundings, or the prospect of fishing on Hidden River's blue ribbon trout stream, the Maple River. |
