Golf's growth in China rolls on

The National Golf Foundation reports golf's growth in China continues with abandon. The latest annual figures show participation up 16% in 2012 over 2011, and 38% of players hitting the links at least eight times per year.

The number of rounds played in 2012 stood at 11.5 million, an increase of 8%.

The data comes from "The 2012 China Golf Report," a 140-page market research report developed by NGF-affiliate Forward Management Group. According to NGF:

"The 2012 China Golf Report goes beyond previous editions in scope of included materials and topics, making it the most comprehensive state-of-the-industry report on China we have offered thus far. The report includes updated information on data from previous reports:

  • Data on golfers’ participation levels, rounds played, and consumer behavior
  • The number of current facilities and golf projects in China
  • Annual revenues for sampled golf facilities"
