Lindsay Ervin first harnessed his golf course design abilities at Purdue University, from which he graduated in 1968 with a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture. After college, Lindsay worked for golf course architect David Gill for about five years. He then moved to Maryland, where he worked for multidiscipline planning/engineering firms such as Greenhorne & O'Mara Inc. and Dewberry & Davis. In 1979, Lindsay started his own company, and he has since been designing golf courses. Lindsay Bruce Ervin, Inc. believes successful course designs should be picturesque, playable, affordable, and profitable. The company's designers and architects aim to create golf course designs with minimal disruption to the natural environment and with sensitivity to the site's historic values. The results are beautiful, fair, challenging, and fun–to–play courses that feature exciting, original designs. Lindsay utilizes a "hands-on" approach for all of his projects to ensure the results are of the highest quality, as expected by his clients and by himself. Lindsay's personal devotion to each course makes the firm's strength the quality of its finished courses. Rather than focus on quantity, Lindsay desires that each job is a reflection of truly superior design.
