Steve Smyers elected president of American Society of Golf Course Architects

Steve Smyers, ASGCA, was elected President of the American Society of Golf Course Architects (ASGCA) at the organization’s recent 69th Annual Meeting in La Jolla, California.

 
Nicklaus, ASGCA Fellow, awarded Congressional Gold Medal

Jack Nicklaus, ASGCA Fellow, (Nicklaus Design) has been awarded the Congressional Gold Medal, the highest civilian honor Congress can bestow. The recognition is the most recent and one of the highest for the winner of a recond 18 golf major championships and designer of great golf course around the world, including Muirfield Village Golf Club, Dublin, Ohio, and Castle Pines Golf Club, Castle Rock, Colorado.

 
Palmer, ASGCA, readies first course design in Scotland

Arnold Palmer, ASGCA Fellow, and Arnold Palmer Design will attach his name to his first new course in Scotland. Golfweek magazine reports that after more than 300 projects in 25 countries, "the King is going to Scotland."

 
Ohio course to build short-game practice facility from Hurdzan, ASGCA

ASGCA Past President and Fellow Michael Hurdzan (Hurdzan Golf Design) has designed a new short-game practice facility for NCR Country Club in Kettering, Ohio. Construction is expected to start this Spring.
